Give me the pros and cons on 900 and 1100 series thinking of purchasing one later this year

I have a 798c so no help here.

I've wondered on the effect of turning my transducer more horizontal or playing it. Sonar is sonar. I'd get a cone in front of the boat that goes deeper the further out from the boat.. no idea if it's a viable idea.. but it would save $1-3k
