I fish out of a jon boat and dont venture real far from the landing. Im looking for some new water with the hope of a change in luck. Do any of you guys fish Seneca River near 18 Mile Cr? By the map, it looks like the river has a few bends and humps within reach of 18 Mile boat ramp. Is the area worth giving a shot? Is the ramp prone to vandalism? thanks
18 mile is a good little ramp. I was up there the other day and it has just been repaved and has a dock now. I've had decent luck up there in the spring but haven't tried it in the summer. There is plenty of submerged timber out from the ramp in 35 to 40 foot of water and there are some brush piles further back in the creek if you can locate them, just look for docks with signs of a fisherman as the owner. I haven't put any brush in there, but have it on my winter schedule. It will be a good creek for the john boat, good luck with em.
I was there Sunday and there were alot of baitfish and some surface schooling fish at the fork of the rivers even with the boat traffic.
Thanks for the input guys. I hear good reports from Seneca Rv and would like to get up that way, just need to get there by road not water.
SCcamper, me and my son fished at the mouth of the rivers and around that area a couple times back in early July. The lake is pretty wide there which means alot of pleasure boaters around and some rough water. We didnt go very far up the Seneca but did ride up the Tugaloo a bit and found a few stripers. I dont have my map in the house but I believe it was Beaver or Beaverdam Cr. where we caught a few. Maybe since school is going on and summer is getting later the pleasure boaters have slacked off some. Good luck when you try it. I'll be looking forwards to your report.![]()
