Thread: Monticello 8-14

went solo fri morning from 7am -11.30 am driftin for catfish. freelining shad near the big island. water temp was 89 deg. end up with 23 in the 1lbs to 3lbs range.

Good catch and will be some good eating also.

That is so relaxing. Tried that couple weeks ago and caught 21 in the same size range. Best eating fish I have had all summer. Thanks for the report.

i got a call from a friend friday. he said hey rango, you catching any? he wasnt aware of my situation and had seen someone down at monty in a boat like mine who looked like me. he said he was my twin but he still wasnt sure if it was me and he said when he seen him fishing left handed he was convinced it was me so he give me a call thinking he was looking at me. he was sorta taken back when i told him it wasnt me so we got a good laugh out of it then he told me he was catching em drifting and had 48 so far. i dint talk to him any more after that so i dont know what his final tally was

first i like to say nice catch and that the perfect eating size. I heard monticello had some nicce crappie in it. Im not say anything dad about the lake and love to catch cats also. i went there last year and broke an axle on my trailar and all we got was cats. we were down near the damn. i heard they are in some old trees still standing, is this the same lake. Is it two lake monticello, and if so is one only for day fishing. --Keep catching and posting thanks.

big lake has the powerhouse on it.the little lake called the (rec lake) is on hwy 97.
