Got off work and got to the lake right before sunset. Finally got anchored at 9:30 which proved tough with not much to hang on. Turned on the lights and immediately had baitfish. Dropped my first line and before I could drop the second I had a fish on. They kept us busy until 2 am when we decided to call it a night and crawl in our sleeping bags since I had to be at work at 9 this morning. We caught 64 crappie. Now that's my highest total ever but here's the catch. Not a single one was keeper size. Some were just plain pitiful. Also caught a 6lb channel on cutbait. Was alot of fun but I'm wondering if there are bigger crappie in there. Maybe the bigger fish will be active when the water temp drops.
Good report Cleon. That's what I was wondering about Saluda and it sounds like it is over run by small crappie. Maybe if enough of the small fish came be caught and removed it will let some grow to bigger size. It would take some time but also be worth the trouble.
Sounds like a fun night of fishing even if they where on the smaller size. Congrats on the high number catch.
Did they lock the gate on you.

What kinda boat traffic are you seeing out there? I bass fished Saluda several times back in the 90's and we couldn't keep the ski boats off of us! After we ran my buddy's boat up on a hidden sandbar on the Berea side, we parted ways with Saluda. Glad you havin some luck up there!
Way to go on the count...that's fun for sure.
Stump, I'm not sure if they locked the gate. I slept on the boat until sunrise then went to the ramp. Looks like I'm going to be stocking up on cutbait for the catfish.
Ridge, the boat traffic wasn't bad at all but we did get there right before sunset. I haven't ventured into the shallower water yet but I will be real cautious.
