Well, I couldn't stand it and decided to go fish this morning even though it was raining when I got up at 6am. Went to pickens and bought some minnows(4 dozen) and got to lake around 8am. Looked into the minnow bucket and there couldn't have been any more than 2 dozen. I had been duped by a woman that I watched count each minnow one by one.![]()
Anyways, fished from the landing on down to the damn. Found fish scattered along channel edges and marked alot of bait as well. Water temp was 85 and it rained almost the entire time. We caught fish from 10 feet down to 22 feet. Deepest water I found was 30 feet on down near the spillway. Hardly any structure to note. Ended up catching 17 crappie, all small and 1 channel cat. We ran out of minnows at 11:30 and called it a day. With the amount of bait I saw, there has to be some nice slabs in there. It was still alot of fun catching the small ones. Me and this lake are going to have a good relationship. It looks like I need to sink some piles and then I'll be set.
Man when you get the erge to go there ain't no stopping you!! Glad you got to catch some despite the rain. Sometimes you have to scratch the itch rain or shine.
Sounds like if you get some brush in there you'll have your self a honey hole!!
My addiction is a cure not a disease.
Sounds like you found you a place that will be close and has crappie also. Hate when you don't get the minnows that you pay for. It happened to me the last time I went fishing. Glad you had a good time. Did you find out if you can night fish or not?

Stump, I still haven't figured out about night fishing. I believe I'm just going to try it sometime and see if I get locked in or not.

I called Easley Combined Utilites again and they said you can fish overnight but you will be locked in until morning.
Saluda landing on the berea side sells maps(Kingfisher I believe) for 7.99 but they don't show any detail besides an estimate of the channel depth. The map shows the channel running down the middle all the way but it actually runs up close to the bank in a few areas. I got more detail from looking at it on Google Earth. I can tell you that from the Easley side landing to the dam I didn't see any sand bars to worry about.
thanks i think im going to get both
