Orderd a quart of steel flex today for $33.25. Talked to the guy and was real nice, he explained how to prep and apply. Very helpful. This stuff should seal the entire boat permenently. I've heard nothing but good things about this stuff and to fix all leaks for 33 bucks, well that ain't bad. Will post progress and results if anyones interested.

If you replace the rivets be sure to get the ones that are made for the job. Most rivets have a hole thru them, they make them that don't have the hole so that it won't leak thru the center. Probably have to go to a Marine store to find them.
My old Jon leaked about an 1" in 8 hours of fishing so I "fixed" the leaks and put in a false bottom that really helped. Fixed the leaks every year, the bunks rubbed the fix off every year.![]()
I have used this with good results.

I have been looking for something to help my nephew stop the leaks on his Bass Tracker. Can't get to the rivets so it has to be done from the outside. Found this. Goes on with roller or brush & covers the whole bottom.

A little dab of JB weld on each rivet on the inside worked great on a 14' boat I once had.
Hold the big hammer on the rounded side and strike the smaller part with a punch to spread and tighten the rivet. These rivets are normally one peice like a bolt and you are trying to make the bolt part larger. If the hole has worn and the bottom of the boat is bent up from going over logs and such it may be difficult to stop the leaks effectively and welding or some sealant will be required. Good luck.
Well I decided to drill out all the old rivets and install new ones. They have been rebucked so many times they were mushroomed. Got the new rivets in today and replaced some above the water line to test my skill. Man it's easy!! I got a piece of steel, auto body workers use, to "back up" the rivet head and just tapped the other side with a small ball peen hammer. All you have to do is give it a few good taps and presto! It's that easy!
I had to drill some out and put oversize rivets in them due to the holes were wallerd out. I'm gonna have to get someone to help with the ones on the bottom of the boat cause I can't reach both sides. If anyone has any questions please ask. I've done some extensive research on this and now have a little experience. I would be glad to help out if I can. Will update again soon as I work on it some more.
