Easley Combined Utilities has opened a new landing on Saluda lake. It is on the Easley/pickens side of the lake and cost's $5 to launch or you can buy an annual pass for $35(runs July to June). It is under video surveillance. I have never fished Saluda due to the other landing being on the Berea side and too small to launch the big toon but this new landing is less than ten minutes from my house. I have searched high and low for info on crappie in this 331 acre lake but can't find anything other than they are there. It looks like I'm going to be the guinea pig when fall rolls around. Quite a few people bass fish it and they have weekly tournaments. A few people also fish for catfish from what I've read. But crappie? I'm on a mission for some slabs this fall.
You Da Man....Go for it... Good Luck!!!
OLD AGE AIN'T FOR SISSY'S. !!! !
Too hard to pass up on something that convenient. You'll save way more than the $35 giving it a few tries to see what's in this lake youve never fished.Good luck wih it this fall.

I've been wondering about this lake too. I read an article in SC game & fish about it, and it said there were alot of threadfins in it. That got me thinking about nightfishing it, but I haven't tried it yet. how do you get to the new landing?
From Saluda Dam road, take Pistol club road and soon after you go through a 4-way stop, you'll see Buckskin road veer off on the right. Buckskin road dead ends at the landing. The landing is right beside the water treatment plant. Good luck if you go!!
do they have a time opening and closeingor 24 hours

I'm new to the site. Cleon how is the boat traffic on Saluda? I have a 14' flat bottom and I try to stay away from other boaters.

Welcome aboard. I have heard that on weekends the lake is busy, so maybe fishing a weekday would be the way to go. There use to be a problem with silt filling the lake but I don't know if anything has been done to remove the silt or not. Going to check out the new landing myself before fishing it.

Redneck, first of all welcome to the site. I recognize your name from another forum as well. Crappie.com is full of good guys and gals that are always willing to help. I have yet to go on Saluda but I've read that during the summer the pleasure boaters can be plentiful. I plan on doing a little scouting this coming week. I can tell you that the lake has many shallow sand bars due to sediment washing in over the years. You can see many sand bars looking at it on Google Earth. There are plans to dredge the lake but I'm unsure when that is taking place.
Hey Cruise, I rode up to the landing. It is very nice indeed. There is a sign that reads sunrise to sunset but I don't know if you are locked in after dark or not. I called Easley Combined Utilites and they didn't know the answer. They said it is maintained by the Homeowners Association but I can't find a number to contact them. I guess eventually I'll push my luck and see if they lock me in.
Thanks Guys, I think I try it on a weekday like you said. Yeah I saw all that silk using bing maps birds eye view, it has great detail of that lake. I fish out of that little boat on Hartwell a lot, but Hartwell has all sorts of places to avoid boat traffic. It looks like there is no where to hide on Saluda. I have an 21' Tahoe F&S also but it sits deep in the water and with all the sand bars, I don't think so.
