Angry Ethanol in gas

Been reading a little bit about how bad ethonal is for our boat motors. I have found STA-BIL Marine Formula on the internet and am going to try it. I was just wondering what others were doing about this problem. My motor is a 1999 Johnson 90.

We would not have had this problem if they start drilling for more oil in the USA and not have to use our corn for ethanol to dilute the gas. A few years ago, like 2001 or 2002 I would spend about $12 for a gas for a day. Now it is more like $26. Sure would have been nice if my income had of went up the same way. It has went down. Just feel like gripping this AM. Feels better to let it out.

I think this Ethanol is also bad on rubber fuel lines. It deteriates them quicker.

Unhappy

I have been using Sea Foam additive in my engine for about two years now. It seems to have helped the issue of ethanol blend gas. I also am buying the Sta-bil additive recently as it is specifically recommended for outboad engines and ethanol use. I worry about my boat gas tank though as it is probably being dissolved by the blended gas. Hope the additives stop this but how will you know except when trouble hits. I read an article that recommended that you take your boat in and have the gas tank checked to see if its composition is resisting the gumming that comes from dissolving . Its a real problem for boaters.

Is ethanaol in all the gas now? I thought it had to be posted on the pump. My truck is set up to run on it, but I avoid it if I can.

Most Citgo station don't have ethanol in their gas. I think the stations have to put it on their pumps if it has it in it.

many stations have ethanol of around 10% in their gas now. At least t hat's wht the sign read on th pump..10%. Don't need anything special to run it, but I do wonder how much less efficient it makes my car.

MTBE additive for gas has been outlawed by our congress. All gas will have ethanol in it by law. Same Democrats in congress that are stopping offshore drilling hence the higher prices that was mentioned earlier. Speaker of the House Mrs. Pelosi is preventing a vote on offshore drilling right now.

If you don't already have one put a 10 micron feul filter and a water seperator on, after as little as 4 weeks the ethanol starts to seperate from the gas and will attract water, with ethanol in gas now it is better to keep your tanks empty rather than full, ethanol attracts more water than condinsation. The feul additives(sea foam) will dramatically slow the process. Most aluminum and plastic tanks a are fine, fiberglass tanks are where most people have been having problem , ethanol is highly corrosive causing the resin to break down. generally on older tanks the ain problem you will have is the fact that the ethanol is cleaning the tank this is the reason for the 10 micron filter.
Also in North Carolina gas stations do not have to put stickers on there pumps about the Ethanol.
isn't that a crook
