Default Cooler temps.

With the cooler temps we are having this August, maybe there won't be fish kills like we have seen the last few years. Has anyone seen any floaters at Wateree or Murray? If this weather pattern holds, there could be some awesome mornings at Wateree in December. Several years ago, Me, Rango, Pete, and Butterbean were catching 20-30 fish a trip. Here's hoping!

OK, guys, let me in on the secret. I have grilled, broiled, and fried striper. It's eatable but nothing to even compare with crappie. I see where you guys keep limits of striper whenever you can catch 'em so how do you guys cook 'em?!? Dont get me wrong...they are OK. I mean...theyre eatable. Much much milder tasting than other fish but more chewey too. And yes, there's nothing but white meat fillets after removing ALL the red and I cut the fillets so they're not more than an inch or so thick, then cut into "two finger" sized nuggets (when frying). Am I missing something here?!?

Chewy don't sound right. To keep it simple, the better half mixes up some milk and eggs. Drop the nuggets in milk and eggs and then in a zip lock bag of house aurty breader. From the breader to the deep cooker. When they float they should be ready. Depends on temp and size of nuggets.

I must say them there hush puppies look good. What is the green veg that you have in there?

Butch, mabey its them big ol fish you are catching. All I am able to catch is the 18 to 22 inch stuff. On a serious note though I will have to agree with poorman,I do mine just as he does and dont seem to be chewy,,firmer than crappie but not chewy. The picture looks mighty tasty.Have you got nay rain yet,any expected??

That's bad news remus. I was hoping we would get by without a kill this year with the cooler temps. I hope it don't get too bad. Thanks for the report.
