Default Lake Keowee Nightstalk 8/16

My friend's 18 year old brother was in town from Portland, Oregon and wanted to go fishing while he was here so last night we took him fishing. He only fishes once a year and that is when he comes to SC so we wanted to put him on some fish no matter the species. We grabbed a mix of crappie and catfish rods, bought some minnows and headed to the lake. We got anchored in 31 feet of water at 7 pm in Stamp Creek and was planning on staying all night. The water temp was 84, which had dropped from the 89 it was last week. The night began with the crappie bite, followed by the catfish bite, and ended with us hauling butt to the landing to get away from a storm at 2am. We ended up with 14 crappie(biggest being 1 1/2 lb), 1 spotted bass, and six catfish(biggest going 16 lbs 5oz) I forgot my camera and had to get the terrible pic at the bottom on my cell phone. Scott, the brother, was thrilled at catching a few fish. He had a catfish break him off at the boat that dwarfed my catfish. He was shaking afterwards in disbelief but had a smile that couldn't be slapped off.

Good report and it's good to hear you took the time to carry a friend fishing while in S.C.. Not a bad catch and a nice cat in the picture. Glad you beat the storm before it caught you.

Caught it on a filet of crappie. Scott's big one that broke off took a crappie head.

Congrats on a good trip Cleon. Most times I want to really get somebody on a fish I cant to save my life. Looks like you did good. Hate it storms run you off the water but maybe Lake Hartwell got a little of that water.
