To my knowledge there are no bait stores on the water. The closest stores to the water are Lamar's Bait in Hartwell and Lake Hartwell fishing and marine on the SC side at Portman marina. Both would be a good walk from the water.
The best bait store in south carolina is on lake hartwell. The Bait Shop on hwy 24 between portman and interstate 85 has the healthiest herring and best service I have ever seen. They have a drive through bait shop and great fihing information. They are not located on the water because you can not sell on COE property but they are well worth the short drive from the lake.
