Default failure again.....:(

im gettin some my old uglies up for a flea market run. i said what the heck. in my desperation to hear one of em snap, let me see if i can break one. so i took one of the heavy action thug rods, run a 1/4 inch nylon cord through the eyes and tied it to the handle. here come the tricky part. i tied it to the trailer hitch ball on the back of the ford and asked the hen to drive off with me holding the rod to see if i could break it. she said she would, IF i wouldnt want to be buying another rod to replace it. . after signing a contract i wouldnt, off she went, with me holding the rod. what a awesome bend i put in it before things started happening. i held on when suddenly i found myself on the gravel being drug along in a cloud of dust and gravel. well the wife thought id turned it loose so she took off up the road to get the paper and mail outta the box. i held on to the creek and had to turn it loose. that or loose all the hide on my elbows and knees. when she got to the box, she found the rod still tied on to the back of the truck. scratched up some, but still unbroken.........so after all that i still aint heard one snap..........

A real man would use the winch off a boat trailer for a reel and drag the truck backward

That's a true test Rango! You may never hear one snap. Years down the road, if they ever start trying to save money and the rods start breaking, I will say "I remember the time ol rango drug himself behind a truck and couldn't break one".

They may not break, and while I like the heavy action thug rods for that purpose, I cant stand the action on the limp noodles they call fishing rods lol. Maybe for use like you do night stalking Rango, other than that count me out lol

the lights and ultralites, with their very soft tips work great for nightstalking. they show the lite bites crappie are famous for. i wouldnt want to use em for nothing but that or brim fishing. wether you are using uglies or any other model for tight lining minnows on a night stalk, if its a stiff rod, you aint gonna see the lite bites crappie are famous for. you can get by using stiff rods nightstalking if you using bobbers on em, so you can see the bite. i have a problem with the ultralite graphites cause of the problem of tip breakage. if im holding a rod in my hands i consider a limp noodle, then ive chosen the wrong rod for what i want to use it for, no matter who made it. theres uglies for any kind of applications you need em for. from brim to tuna. from ultralites to broomsticks, you have to match the rod to the job no matter what company made it..

yeah i guess you are right pete. a mans gotta realize when to draw the line and accept things as they are. i remember once i had some water in my ear. for several days it aggravated the snot out of me. just kept sloshing around in all that empty space making funny sounds. always being one to do more thinking after the fact than before, i took a high pressure air hose and thought i could blow it out. wound up having some serious damage control done by some high priced docs...never again will i try that. it was one of the most painful and expensive lessons i ever taught myself
