Default Lake Wylie Report Friday 08.08.2008

Got back into town sooner than I thought this week so I decided to go fishing Friday. First pole in the water about 8:30 A.M. North wind was blowing hard enough to give you reda**. All my spots for Perch was in the wind. Using a trolling motor heavily and bouncing up and down was no fun. I was marking some fish but they would not bite. Maybe it was the bait yoyoing up and down three feet from the waves.

Water was 87 degrees and a lot of the time lake was a litttle whitecapping.
Ended up with.
One Kitty
2 WP
and a bunch of bream.

Must have been bream day. Anybody else in other lakes suffered same thing?

Hard day on lake but was better than work.

Wind can make a tough day, that kind of a day you have to enjoy bream fishing.

Even with the aggrevating wind and waves sometimes it just feels good being back on the water.

I don't think we caught them all but we had a ball four of us catching white perch near Goat Island entrance to Big Ally catching 142 white perch. Most were small bait caliber but my fishing bud caught one near to a pound and half on a piece of cut bream. The bite stayed hot for nearly an hour steady perch jerking then it slowed and we moved down lake near Nivens and found a whole new clan of perch to terrorize.

Crappiekidd I don't think I have ever seen you on the water. Stop by if you see me. I fish out of a Whaler, or a pontoon most times. Sometimes may be in friends CS. We would love to share perch tips. There is absolutely no way we can catch too many perch though it seems so when they may be hard to find, when you do they are very easy to catch.

Catfish activity is good but size is down as far as channel cats are concerned. We are regularly catching 15-24 fish per outing with a large fish going around 7 pounds but the majority are 2.5 to 4 pounds. The blue and flathead bite has never been better on Lake Wylie and this lake is going to cause many to shorten trips elsewhere when they learn to target the larger fish.
