Default White rod tips

Guys, there has been a lot of talk about what to do with your rods at night so you can see them better. I took this picture the other night at Clarks Hill.
You can see how well the tips light up with the ends painted white. I use flat white spray paint and spray the first three sections.

Those look good and as you said are alot easier to see, especially when you get light bites. I have found that what works for me is spraying just to the first eye back from the end (or even less as long as I get 4"-5" painted)). It's all I need to see the bite.

Thanks for the photo stump hunter. I learned that trick from Rango and Pete. Just buy the ($1.00 / can) cheap white spray paint at walmart and tape off your guides and paint away.

This is a Rango tip that I tried also. Wanted to let everyone see how the rod ends light up at night.

Stumphunter, from reading reviews from alot of guys it seems not everyone wants to take their new rods and start painting white on them. For me the choice was easy since I knew I was going to night stalk exclusively. Besides, I never claimed to have the best of anything, so spray painted white tips on rods was just another "cheaper trick" to help me fishing during the night time. I cant afford all Ugly Sticks with white tips molded in them so the white paint will have to do! I guess if I was fishing with Loomis rods or something like those then I would be reluctant to spray cheap paint on 'em (NOT) but the fact is it does work. Fact is, you gotta do something to regular dark colored rods if you want to see the bites since more than not they are light bites in the first place. I for one cannot see so good so the tape probably wouldnt be the right choice for me and I am a lazy fisherman and dont want to waste time always having to buy and attach glow sticks to my rods every time I go fishing.

I agree with you Gabowman, I buy my gear to fish with, all the rods that are painted are for night fishing. Anything I can do to make it useful I'm all for.
I'm not saying it's for all to do.

whatever method you use to make your rod tips visible so you can see the night bite is something that will increase your catch rate by allowing you to see the lite bites crappie are known for. theres many methods out there you can use. the flat white spray paint was the easiest and most economical i found. every rod but several brim rods i own, crappie, striper and catfish, now has white tips. Ive never had a high dollar rod, so dont know how it would affect me mentally to paint the tip on one, but if i had one and used it for nightstalking, it would be sporting a white tip
