Lake Murray???

I just got my new baitcaster a daiwa megaforce I love it. well I have never cought any stripers or bass from lake murray, lots of bream. Does anyone have any tips on stripers I have tried around the towers fishing at about 40 feet or so with herring in the morning. this weekend i have time to do some night fishing does anyone have any tips that might help out. thanks
