Default Little Saluda River 11/14

Hit the water this past Saturday morning. I should have known it wasn't going to be a good day when we put the boat in. It looked like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory had exploded up stream as the water looked like Nesquick!

Not to mention the trash in the water was terrible.

We started our day up at the horseshoe (wrong move, should have went down the lake) We drifted up there for 2 hours and didn't have so much as bite. I staggered lines anywhere from 15' to 6' and fish every part of the river including some adjacent flats. NOTHING!

We decided to head back down to where we did catch a few the other weekend. On the way I was telling my buddy about how you had to real careful as to not to hit floating logs. I told him a story about two guys in a sneak boat that cut a 180 after nailing an underwater log. Well it wasn't 30 seconds after I had finished that we slammed into something submerged under the chocolate! Sheared the pin at the prop. So we were stuck using the trolling motor the rest of the outing. We fished for another couple hours and still didn't have any bites. I fished brush, ledges, dead center of the channel, deep, shallow, fast, slow, w/ jigs, w/ minnows, tipped with nibbles....every way I know to try! Just wasn't going to happen.

I didn't see but one other guy crappie fishing but I didn't get to talk to him. Oh well hopefully the water will settle down in the next couple weeks and I'll try them again!

Hang in there CB...it'll get better when the weather stabilizes and the fluctuating water levels---level off. I think everybody is struggling with the crappie right now or at least everybody that I've heard from anyway.

Me and dad went Sunday. Started out at herlong's had 4 bite's kept two of them that were 12". We then went up past the horse shoe and tried it for a couple of hours. Ended up catching 5 up there with 2 keepers. This was the first fall trip for us. Hell it must of took us a hour to untangle and rerig the rods. The four keepers were between 3/4 and a pound. See yall next weekend on the water.

You must be talking about Big Man's bridge close to Cloud's creek. I wish I would have went down the lake away from some of the mud. I'll try again around thanksgiving.

How deep were they catching them?
