Default Need Help, about to buy HELIX 9 SI/GPS

I am in need of advice on buying a Helix 9 SI/GPS. I currently have a helix 5 SI unit, but the side imaging is only 420-500 kHz and sub par. I have recently started fishing for bluegill/shellcrackers most of the time. The helix 5 SI the screen and detail just isn't capable of picking up on bluegill beds very well. So my question to ya'll is would I be happy with the Helix 9 SI unit? Not the helix 9 SI Mega, it is out of my price range.

Here is a link to the one I am looking at: https://www.hodgesmarine.com/Humminb...um409950-1.htm

My last question is according to the specs on this unit it will operate at 800 kHz in side imaging correct? Or will I have to buy a different transducer for 800kHz side imaging? Thanks in advance, I am new to the whole side imaging thing.

HELIX 9 SI comes standard with the Compact SI xducer ...which is tuned for 455kHz ...

HELIX 9 SI can indeed transmit 455kHz and 800kHz (thru the Compact SI xducer) when the Connected Transducer selection under the Sonar tab is set to Hi Def Sidescan ... but performance at 800kHz thru the Compact SI xducer will be so-so ...

You can exchange the included Compact SI xducer by calling HB before you open the transducer hardware baggie and set up exchange for the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T Hi Def Sidescan xducer ... which is tuned for 455kHz and 800kHz ...

the 5’s screen is actually pretty good and it has a higher pixel count than the 9. But being smaller can make it hard to see stuff.

The 9’s screen will be easier to see being bigger, but if you zoomed in a 5 and 9 next to eachother the 9 would be more pixelated.

The pixel count is the same.

    800h x 480v.

The pixel DENSITY is much higher on the 5, and the individual picture elements (pixels) are physically smaller which looks better to the eye...

It costs $85 to exchange the unused compact SI for the HDSI XDCR, if you can find a Gen1 Helix 10 - you're better off if the price isn't too bad as it's LCD sports 1024h x 600 v pixels.
