Default New Helix base map Update

I got an email from Humminbird about with the new update. It is going to add a basemap? I am always leery about doing updates and was wondering just how much advantage that map is going to be? Is it going to be equivalent to some lakemaster lake cards? Like Lowrance has a bas map that is equivalent to the navionics chip?

The new basemap upgrade will add 10,000 lakes to the 3000 lakes already included in the Contour XD basemap ...

I'm hearing it's 10-20ft contours ... But that's still better than no contours at all (if your lake is now included in the extra 10,000 lakes added to Contour XD and you don't want to buy a map card with 1ft contours) ...

If one is already using a mapping card with 1ft contour - there is no value in the upgrade ...

I just updated my unit and I can say it's worth it! I have a lakemaster chip in my rear unit and it's definitely no lakemaster however it does show you where the chanel is and is definitely an upgrade mine even shows some conservation brush piles that weren't on there before. It's always a good idea to update the software. And it really isn't that hard to do just time consuming.

Zero slow down in performance or unit speed.

I got mine done a few days before the emails went out - great where there is NO coverage, most are 10-20' contours with a few that are 5' I have found.

I now have some smaller lakes I never did before, it's another map layer selection under the chart menu.
