    Default Finder for Trolling Motor

I have a Lowrance HDS 7 Touch with LSS Ducer mounted on the transom. I am wanting to purchase some unit specifically for my trolling motor that has downscan, 2d sonar, and GPS. I do not want side scan with this unit.

What recommendations would you give me? I am not hung up on brand type. I prefer a 7" or so screen, but might consider a 5".

The best under $800 please, and why you believe this. I only vertical jig in a stained, shallow water lake (generally less than 13' deep). I am usually in 6/12 ft. of water.

Another HDS Touch will give you a lot flexibility with your current Touch 7 ...

The HDI xducer can be used with HDS Touch to get 2d/Downscan ...

so i would just put the 2nd hds7 touch up front and mount an hdi ducer on the trolling motor and just leave my back unit alone? then i would have down scan, 2d, and side scan on the back unit for ever who might be fishing there and downscan, 2d with gps on my trolling motor where i would be sitting with the front screen??

Get ahold of Brian@BBGMarine (member name) ... and tell him what you're looking for & a price range. I haven't dealt with him, myself, but I see posts from lots of members that have .... and there hasn't been any negative comments, to my knowledge.

also, what if i just bought an hdi ducer, put it on the trolling motor, and hooked it to my current unit in the sonar slot and leave the lss ducer on the transom, connected to the structure slot, and unhook my current sonar ducer and just leave it hanging not connected to the head unit. i could always unplug the hdi and plug the hds back up if i wanted to couldn't i?

    This is possible ...

You would have to select Generic 83/200kHz (for the HDI connection) in the Sonar installation Menu because it's not possible to have 2 DownScan sources at the same time in 1 unit (DownScan in the HDI and DownScan in the LSS) ...
