I was driving with the outboard. It did not go away when I slowed down. If it's the boat creating it, what are my options?

Remove the xducer and stick it way down in the water ...

If it goes away - there is something on the left side creating that (it really looks like aerated water instead of a hard return like a ladder or floatation pod - (and your OP pix show no obstruction on the left side) ...

would the speedometer thing on the left side of the boat be causing this? although it's folded up above the transom, could it still be causing this interference?

Anything to the side "can" block the SI Beam ...

Remove the xducer and stick it way down in the water to verify if the issue is the HB...or the boat ...

It did this no matter what angle the motor was trimmed.
    .
Mine would do the same at about the speed in your pic, if I scanned at 4.5-6 mph it went away.
Increase your speed more and see if that helps.

In closer review of the pics you posted, hopefully the tape or packing "skin" that is stuck to the bottom of the ducer has been removed. It is on the left side. Just an observation.

I just recently installed a helix 7si in my boat. I read on a forum that the ribs in the bottom could cause interference and u may have move it left or right to fix it some. In your picture it seemed a little closer to one rib and not center. Idk if that would cause it but it's a thought. Glad to see this post it may help me with any problems I have with mine since I have yet to put it in the water.

Looks like turbulence off the bottom of the boat. Some people live with it or run another ducer on the other side. A splitter cable merging the two together makes it go away
