Default Fingers crossed G2N is repaired.

Well it appears Humminbird has fixed my problem. I installed my second replacement (3rd overall) Helix 10 GPS SI mega G2N head unit and my troubles are gone. Ran it all weekend. There was only a couple quirks but they came only when I was in extremely shallow water less than 2 foot where the screen read 13 feet deep but the bottom image showed the actual 2 foot. This would bounce back and forth every few minutes and correct itself. I will keep my eye on this.

The actual techs and reps were very helpful during this 6 week ordeal given the cumbersome and time consuming corporate policy they/us have to work thru. Its a shame that in my case 2 of three head units were faulty units. Hopefully for everyone elses sake, I was the unlucky exception and not the rule. Although I did run into a guy on Enid Lake this weekend that was having the same troubles as I.

All in all, I am very happy with the finished product. Next time, I will wait and buy older technology that has the bugs worked out. Now I just need to save some more money so I can upgrade my map cards.

They swapped out power cords and transducer twice but they were always fine. It ended being Two faulty head units. They did not tell me what caused it. The first was deemed a hardware issue in the LCD crystals? This gave me pixelated edges around all my overlays like staring at a strobe light.

The second I was told was software. Basically the 2d and DI was giving false recordings and displaying crazy depth readings. Mapping and SI worked fine. This is what was also happening to the guy I met this weekend at Enid.

I have the same quirk with wrong depth in shallow water. Mine's a Helix 9 GPS sonar g2n. Doesn't bother me unless I'm running ac live then it is a flat out pain cause it will use the wrong deep depth and you have go over the spot repeatedly to fix it.

Well after 23 hours of perfect clarity it has started again. The pixilated edges are back. HB has me sending them more pics screen shots and videos. Maybe I am too picky and this is just how everyone else's looks and I should just deal with it. Its aggravating. Here is a couple of videos. They are not good here cause it drowns some of the detail after uploading. But in the field especially in low light conditions the pixels on the edges of the overlay number just sparkle. You will have to look at the video real closely to catch it. Anyone else get this whenever they have SI or DI on the screen. It never happens on 2d or mapping.
