    Default Onix screen freezing!

First time on the water with 3.00 upgrade in my Onix. the screen locked up twice. once while in Auto Chart Live, trying to get a split screen. and then later when creating a new view with 2d and di. I have checked power connections and battery. it did not do this before the upgrade. I unplugged the unit ,waited 20 seconds then repowered, and the last time did a reset. worked fine the rest of the day. Never lost depth even at 1.7 feet. Auto Chart Live is awesome by the way!
    Happy fishing guys

HB would never admit it but I think all the new added features are really taxing the processor ...
    -----

1 iota of major importance (with ONIX especially) = make sure to have clean dedicated 12v power from battery to ONIX - tying into the boat wiring is never a sure source of sufficient amperage ...

thanks for the tip. I hope I have that taken care of but I did recheck. I would hope that with the widespread use of co-processors and specialized chips sets that reduce the need for processor fetch and process functions would help the ONIX have a little extra processor power to spare. From my problem, makes me wonder if the interrupt or call for the View function is not totally debugged. May be timing or just a small coding error or could be processor overload at that moment. Also the graphical interface adds
complexity to the entire process. when it works it is great.
I really think the 2d looks better. the si and di looked the same. 2d was running the full range chirp. Even tho I know there is no way to brighten the screen enough using software upgrades one can wish!

There's no way I can quantity the processor demand on different applications the ONIX is running ...

But my eye sees a small boost in performance from using a Chart Select map of my lake instead of the LakeMaster regional card ...

It's a given that the Chart Select map has less overall data to process (only 1 lake data per SD Card) ... But I don't have verified documentation that states LakeMaster regional cards slow down the performance ...

It just "seems" like my Chart Select map card helps (both my ONIX and my 1197) ...

U make a good point that seems logical. I am creating some auto chart maps and will have several unmapped lakes on the card. I will try to notice any slowdown as data is added. I appreciate the insight.
    Thanks as always

Glad to hear ur having no Onix issues. How about the Rhodan? Mine is acting up. It has intdemittent failure to lock on GPS and won't turn in manual but will change speeds. Checked the battery and all conections. It had some issues last year but has gotten worse. Happy fishing.

    Kosmo,
I am trying to find the serial number before I call. I hate to admit it . Seems so simple . Still looking. About to call them anyway. Mine is somewhat intermittently intermittent. Can't trust it. Glad ur is fine.
