Default Need info on where to go?

Currently my boat is in the shop for repairs. I wanted to bring the kids fishing during christmas vacation and also to try out my new combos. Any place I can go fishing from the bank with them? like to try trout, redfish, flounder, etc.. anything that bites so they can have fun. I live in central not far from denham springs. If we have to drive a distance thats ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Tim, I don't really know that side of the state that well. Maybe someone from over that way can help you out. Over on my end, the only place I can think of right off is at Calcasieu Point. They have a good area where you can go off the bank. I have saw a few people pull some reds out there and they say the crabbing is pretty good.
    Sorry couldn't help anymore.

Take LA 1 south past the turn-off to Fourchon like you are headed towards Grand Isle. Between LA 3090 (The Fourchon Road) and the island you will come across some pits on the right side of the highway. Lots of folks fish them from the bank, and they commonly give up some nice catches of reds and specks during winter. Look for other folks fishing, and join them.
    Bon chance.

    Default thank you Pete

I went buy a grand isle map, I see about where you are talking about. We will give it a try this week. We have never been there before, when the boat is running, lol we usually fish rigolets and lake catherine when we want to try to catch trout and reds. If ever you go that way let me know I can tell you couple spots we go, we always brings a few reds and flounder in too this time of year. I'll post what we catch. Thanks again for the help.

I usually catch a few specks and flounder off the bank at "the point" in eden isles in slidell, there is a concrete wall going all around the point so you can fish the canal or the lake,if you decide to try bring some white gulp curly tails, thats what they seem to like best. Its off the oak harbor exit on 1-10 righr before the twin spans.

Thank you BIGBEE138, I brought the kids 3 days ago. We didn't catch anything, my daughter did lose a flounder as it was coming out the water. I know we didn't catch but they still had fun with the outing and me teaching them how to cast their new combos. They had other people there also but they really weren't catching either. Seen alot of mullet swimming, figured trout would be there. I should have my boat back by the end of the month. Thanks again.

Sorry Tim. Three days ago I went to a bunch of canals that we've been killing 'em in lately and barely got enough to get a decent stink out of the skillet. Guess it was an overall bad day at black rock.
Don't give up on those pits - they ARE good ones!
