Default Big Lake 8-26-08

Went to Big Lake yesterday, couldn't make my mind up on whether to go there are down to Rockafeller but with NO WIND, I decided to take advantage of the lake. Ended up catching 4 reds and 5 specks and released several other reds and a few specks that would have been legal. Kept a couple of smaller specks (13 - 14 inches) b/c they swallowed the hook. Also caught about 4 lbs of shrimp. Most of the fish were caught on live mullet 6 to 8 inches under a popping cork. Also did good with the 3" New penny GULP shrimp on reds. Caught the fish behind the wiers.

Default Went 8-26-08

I went to big lake Tuesday and caught 3 reds and 1 speck but had a lot fun catching croakers and catfish till i couldn't keep track. All caught on new penny gulp shrimp in about 3-4 feet of water. Had enough reds for me to eat fresh last nite so i was very satisfied.

You drag a trawl for the shrimp, or throwing a cast net??? I cancelled last weekend down there ofcourse because of the storm and looming traffic that I would have run into coming back to N La.

I throw a cast net behind the wiers. I have better luck on shrimp down at Rockafeller though. I do have friends that do great at Big lake on shrimp though.

Default redfish

Redfish in Big Lake right now is crazy. A Buddy and I went Fri., fished four or five hours and probably caught between 40 and 50. Schools of reds everywhere. Most were between 4 and 7 lbs. If you get a chance, now is the time.
