Cast Net Shrimping

Would anyone care to give me shrimping 101, or point me at the right article?

I understand how to throw a cast net, but I have no idea where a good place would be. Do you just throw blindly where you'd guess there'd be shrimp, or are you following clues, or going on boat to the correct location? How much does time of day / year matter?
