    Default Penn Reel

Hey guys I have a penn Mariner 49m offshore reel I found in my granddads stuff. It is brand new in box stilll has instructions in box, basically unblemished and never used that I can tell. I am not sure how old it is, I am guessing early 60's as a manufacture date. anybody no anything about them, what it might be worth, etc.

Check on ebay under Penn Saltwater reels.Probably like $35.00.If you have the box and the papers and they came with a wrench and some lube in a tube.It might be worth more.

Here's a little info for you on your reel.

    PENN 49L REEL SPECS

The first one was made before 1941 and they were discontinued in 2006.

If it was mine, I would keep it. Maybe find a nice vintage rod to put it on and hang it on the wall for a conversation piece.

You can do a google search for them and find them for sale online from $13-$70.

Don't get rid of that puppy, can't find em made like that anymore. I have a bunch of old Penn reels and they all work even after a lot of abuse and some of them sitting in garages for years before I got them.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
