Jacksonville Fla pier
Can anybody give me any advice about fishing off the pier in Jacksonville? Bait, size of line etc.

Frozen bait shrimp and squid will catch lots of Hard Head Catfish and Oyster Toad fish, neither of which are fit for human consuption... you may also catch a couple of Whiting as well which are good to eat.
Fresh shrimp from a grocery store will increase your chances at better fish like Whiting and Drum.
Purchase a couple Sabiki rigs from a saltwater tackle shop, these rigs have 6 tiny jigs. Get the ones with the smallest hooks, this rig will catch live baitfish for you. Just put a 1 or 2 oz. sinker on the bottom of the rig and jig it off the bottom... you can put tiny pieces of shrimp on the hooks and it will work faster. Set up another rod or 2 with a Carolina rig using a 1 or 2 oz. egg sinker, a 2' leader, and a 2 or 3/0 circle hook. Use your live bait on these rods. Cast them out and let them roll around on the bottom with the current.
Watch the other people on the pier and see what they're catching them on too.
Fishing at night may be better than fishing during the day... and a lot cooler too!... but the women will be wearing less clothing during the day.
Saltwater fishing for quality fish on the East coast can be pretty tough nowadays, but maybe you catch a nice fish.
Good luck!
