The Walker Tournament
As part of the Manitowoc Salmon Derby the Willie Bee entered the Walker Challenge Super Tournament over the weekend. We stuck to the plan of going for a limit of fish out in deep water instead of travelling north or south in search of bigger salmon. We hit the 300 foot depth and went out, working for some deeper kings and consentrated on the rainbows on top. We started with the lines litting up right away but we had more lost fish than hit the cooler, we went back to work and did get 9 fish for day one. We finished the day in 6th place but still were in range to make a run at it. We stuck with the deep water for day 2 and we filled up our 10 fish limit and the other boats that were on big fish the day before found slow action which made for a nail biter at the weigh in. We moved up into the prizes finishing in 4th place, but the 3rd place boat was only 6 points ahead. We had a great time and Ted got his first time experience fishing the super tournaments. Hopefully we can keep the roll going with the upcoming Two Rivers Kiwanis Tournament.
