The Fly Guys
This was a first in the book of things that happen out on the water, we set up for rainbows on a flat calm afternoon and pushed our way out to 280 feet of water and just about the time we started getting into the fish we ran into a lake fly hatch like I have never seen before. The boat was cover and we had to put towels over our faces to breath, after a few fish ripping lures that we could only watch from inside the cabin, we decided to pull lines, shovel the flys off the boat and head for some clearer air. The west winds had slowly cooled the water nearshore where we caught and missed a few more fish. The orange, acid, watermellon, and bumblebee spoons on the surface were all working.
