North Point 8/8-8/18
I`ve been up fishing at the boat with no computer access since Monday the 8th so I apologize for not reporting, I fished everyday except for Sunday and Monday the 14th and 15th as the family came up for Venetian night at the harbor on Saturday after my noon trip. It would take me a few hours to post a full report so again it`s a quick overview.
Out of all those trips I only had 3 trips where I came in with less than 10 fish and most the catch rates were in the mid teens to upper twenties. They were mixed bags with a good number of Steelies and bigger coho.
The morning bite has been spotty, some days it`s hot and some it`s not,it has varied from 40` to 90` and depending on the water temps some 4 yr. olds have been caught in the top 20`. I haven`t stayed out past 8 so I can`t report on the night bite.
Yesterday was the first day I ventured out to 250` as I was trying to find a good troll with the wind setting up in 130`, and we kept picking up fish until I turned. Many fish out in the deeper water were small Chinook and with the conditions I had to set the releases a little tighter so I was constantly checking for shakers we may have been dragging.
Last week the spoon bite seemed to work best for me, but this week I`ve done better with dodgers and flies. In the deeper water the fish seem to be concentrated in the top 60`, I have marked fish down from 100`-150` and dropped a ball with no success. The lead has been good and there I prefer to run a spoon.
