Saturday morning I was part of a two boat Bachelor Party that had started the night before. We were a little late on the 6 O`clock departure time, a mere 40 minutes at that. I headed South to avoid the "Fleet" of boats already on the hunt. I finally found a patch of clear water and set up heading Southeast in 60` three miles south of the harbor at 42* 26`N. I didn`t have a hit for the first 1/2 hour and pointed it East. When we reached 90` the first rod went off and we took a decent King. I turned back due West and we took 5 hits landing 3 more fish turning around when we reached 50`. I stayed in the area taking fish and hits for about the next hour then it shut down. We had plenty of action, and had some strong fish on for a fair amount of time, but lost more than we landed. I took it out to 90` heading North as the boats seemed to scatter. We ended up 9 for over 22, and only needed an elusive brown for the "Grand Slam" with 1 `Bo just over 7#`s, 2 coho, my second Laker of the season and 5 Kings. The best baits were a white Hot Spot flasher ahead of an aqua flie, a Silver Streak Magnum Green Dolphin, and the Fishlander Gump Striper. I had them on `riggers down 50`-60`, a full core of lead and fireline dipsey's back 160` on a # 3 setting, and they were all taking hits. I wish I could attribute some of the lost fish to the condition of the participants

, but they all did a great job and the fish just got the best of us.Good Luck with the wedding.
For the afternoon I set up in 75` at 42* 28`N on marks I saw on the graph. The first hit came as I was setting the third rod and after a 15 minute battle a 15# King kicked the skunk out of the cooler hitting a Banana rig down 50`. I hate when this happens as now the group had visions of renting a trailer to haul home their catch. Well after the excitement subsided we were washing lures, then the lead took a hit and after running us 100` into the backing we made it back to the lead only to have the fish make a hard run and break off. After that we had a few more hits on various purple spoons and a smoke `Lil Boy Blue" Flie down 50` and 65` on the `riggers. I stayed in the 75` - 90` range and we went 4/7 with 2 Kings and 2 coho.
On Sunday morning I set up in 65` right on the state line and headed Southeast to 90`, the boats were a little too much for my liking and I headed South. On the way I had the pleasure of watching a guy alone in a 16` boat turn behind my boat, I yelled that I had a long line back 100 yards and he waved back. Then the lead core started screaming, yep you guessed it I topped the Picnic table I snagged a few weeks back, I caught a boat well actually he caught me. I lost this battle and another core of lead

. I continued my troll South down to 42* 25` along with about 10 other boats, it was like being on the Fox Chain as everyone was going the same direction at the same speed so turning would be a privilege rather than an option. Needless to say it wasn`t the way I like to fish. We ended up 7 for 12 with 6 Kings two of which topped the scale at 12 pounds and another Laker.
For the afternoon I had a family and friends with 2 boys around 8 and 11 years of age. The lake was beautiful with a decent cooling breeze (no flies)and a 1`-2` chop. I didn`t hear of any other charter Captains doing anything in the 70`-90` range so I headed out past them setting up in 100` and took it out to 130` with no marks on the screen or action. I hailed the other Captains to tell them of what I found (or didn`t find) and then another came on that was all the way out to 170` stating he didn`t have any action either. I turned and headed back to the shallower water. As I reached 110` a 50` downrigger with a Purple/ blue Fishlander spoon started screaming.(I`ll get the name of this one it`s been good) and after the kids took turns fighting the fish a 12# King brought a smile to their faces. Then it was another slow spell as I brought it back in 80`. There were plenty of marks but no takers. I stayed in the area for a while and headed back out to the 110`s where we took the King, as we hit 105` a Mystery dodger white flie down 60` took a decent coho. I took it out to 120` and turned it back around until we reached the 80`s again. I heard from the Mona Gail and he was having action around 27`N so I pointed it South and took a decent steelie on a shallow dipsey and that same Fishlander spoon 160` on the counter # 3 setting. Then another dry spell and I brought it back to the line and headed in thru the Hills. As I reached the 60` mark I was trying to keep my `riggers just off the bottom and I unsuccessfully hit with two of them. It was time to pull lines and as I was bringing in the second I found a 3# king was what was doing the tugging on the rod rather than the lake bottom.
we ended up with 3 kings and a `Bo. I will say for as slow as it was the kids did great, and I`m sure they`ll be a great companion to their family on any outing they go on
