Default North Point 6/2 Pecking away

I was part of a 2 boat on Saturday morning and took it South and set up around 42° 27N in 60` and continued Southeast. Fishing was the same as it had been, a dry spell, a few rods would pop, then back to hunting. I found an active school where we had a few bites following each other in quick succession so I decided to work the area. I maintained a East- West troll at 42° 26` between 80` and 110` with decent action . This lasted until it came time for us to finish off out limit, and just about an hour and a half at that . The first 4 out of 5 hits came on a Silver Streak Green Dolphin down 22` on a `rigger. And just as someone asked why none of the other rods were producing, that rod died, and even though I changed spoons, it never took another hit . That`s the way the morning went, the boards would produce for a while, then the dipseys. It was funny since I was on the same school, going in the same directions, that they were finicky. There was another Capt. working the area and he hailed me to let me know the bite had moved further North which is where I finally picked up out last one. The 30` dipseys I had been running all year were now back 60`-80`. I had `riggers down 22` to the bottom and they all produced Cohos and a pair of Browns. I put spoons down deeper looking for Kings, but wasn`t able to attract their attention. My leads were a little longer on the boards as well, with Blue/Gold flies doing the most damage. I kept my speed right around 2.0 MPH at the ball and the temp was 44° down 25`.

It was a wet start on what turned out to be a beautiful afternoon and I dropped lines in 40` as I was curious about marks that were showing up on the screen. I took a few hits on the way out, but nothing to turn on. The pace was that of the late morning with small pockets of fish. The problem we had was keeping them on the line, the bigger coho are putting up much better fights and are doing a good job of shaking themselves off. I was all over the Lake between the line and a few miles South from 40` where I started to 150`. I did a temp check and found 38° water 50` down in 150`. There were plenty of marks showing up on the screen and judging by the full bellies in all the fish we landed, they were quite content not chasing our baits. We ended up going 16 for 25 or more with mostly 4-5 lb. coho and a Laker.
I didn`t get a pic as I was rushed to get to a friends wedding, and I also chose to take Sunday off to watch my son compete in a Multi-State roller hockey tournament right here in Palatine. You can`t put a price on that!
