Default North Point 5/22 Picture perfect

It was another beautiful day to be out on the Lake, a slight breeze and chop from the South was enough to keep the flies (yes flies ) at bay. We left the dock around 6:30 and as I hit 18` right in front of the harbor mouth, the screen lit up with what appeared to be bait with larger fish above. I circled around a dropped a Dipsey to see if I could entice a hit. It was to no avail. I didn`t want to get that “Woulda`, Shoulda`, Coulda`” feeling wondering what it was that I went over. Perhaps it was perch.

I took it out to 35` right on the line and we had action as I reached the 40`s, I continued on an Easterly troll out to the 60`s where the bite had slowed, and I was able to get all 12 lines wet. I pointed it Southwest and we had a decent amount of nibbles, nothing overly hectic, but steady. I heard a few captains express the good action back in the 40`s where I too had better results. However, I had only three on board and I knew they were enjoying the morning, so I angled it in rather than pointing it due West, ending up around 28` North.

We had a couple of doubles go to which I was the man in the middle between the two women who landed the Coho like seasoned veterans . The gentleman onboard had many hours fishing the Lake under his belt. Besides doing his share of helping fill the cooler, also aided the women by helping them with the rods when needed. We ended up with our 4 man limit in about 2 hours, despite loosing a few bigger fish, they left with enough to fill their freezers until they return for their summer King endeavor.

The flies of choice seemed to be the Sigs Rigs “Mardi Gras, Blue Liz Cheddar Flie and a “Stanley Stinger” red/black/silver peanut flie. Same basic spread 25`-30` on a #3 Dipsey, birds back 40`-60` with a 5/8 oz. keel weight, `riggers down 8`-20`.

The Coho are still very abundant, and growing quickly in size, despite sounding like a broken record, get out there and get them when and while the gettin`s good!
