Once again I started just South of the Line in 70` and we had a decent morning bite. The fish despite their size weren`t too hard to get in. The water down 50` was still a balmy 69* The first fish to hit, and also the biggest of the day, was this 23 pound king. It took a Fishlander Easter Egg Glow down 50` in 80`.
We had to wait until sunrise to take the pic as we had decent action during the predawn hour. I stayed in the 70`s and 80`s until I felt the bite was done and pointed it East at 42*27`. We had a few pokes and took a few fish as we went thru 110`-125`. I kept it pointed out looking for some cooler water, the temp was 65* 70` down. Again we went thru pockets, and I leveled off at 160`. Pointing North we had steady action, with doubles and occasional triples all the way back to the line. The Silver Streak Green Dolphin, and Black Fin Tuna lead the way, followed by the Black Baboon and Monkey Puke on the lead. These were the studs for the day and brought in a mixed bag, needing only a brown for the grand slam once again. The speed was a little slower today at 1.9-2.0 KTS on the GPS. I really didn`t notice any current.
The `riggers were down 55`-80` and the #2 wire dipseys back 160`-180`, again with a white flasher ahead of a green fly, smoke Lil` boy blue.
All these Kings were males and weighed in between 17# and 23#`s
We came in with our 6 man limit loosing around a dozen or so.
With the weather apparently remaining constant throughout the weekend it should be very good for anyone who gets out.
