Default North Point July 7th

Left the harbor around 6 and took it just North of the line. The bait was abundant, the marks were there but takers were hard to find. We ended up 4/7 with 3 decent kings in the 6-10 pound range and a 6 pound coho, venturing from 60` to 90` with one pass out to 120`. On that pass out we hooked what seemed to be a huge Laker, the bait came off the release, the rod never came up, it felt like we were dragging a 5 gallon bucket. All it was doing was taking out line, we saw it surface a few minutes later well behind the boat, splash, and then it was history .That was on a yellow "Hot Spot" ahead of a green flie down 40` in 110`. The best rod that took 4 hits, was a #1 wire dipsey 110` back with a green flie behind a green "Hot Spot". This is the only pic for the highlight reel.

For the afternoon I had a mom and 3 kids, this was their first time out on the Lake and for two of the kids their first time going after anything other than pan fish. The fish were much more aggressive, but keeping them on was another story. We went 9/ at least 15 (lost track) with a mixed bag, a coho, laker, steelie, and the rest kings. We lost one inches from the net as the fight took all it could from one of the little guys, who slowed the cranking of the handle just enough to allow the 6-7 pound king to give one last head shake, and another one was inadvertently tossed back in .
I again started just North of the line at 60` and the best action was between 50` and 90`. The plastic "Hot Spot" dodger and flies in green and yellow ahead of green flies took the bulk of the hits. Spoon size didn`t seem to matter as the magnums, regular, as well as the small stingers all took hits. The alewife colored ones brought the most action.
There was a strong current from North to South, with the Southerly winds speed was hard to control. This was another trip that was well worth it for me, the kids borrowed a cell phone to call their dads after just about every fish . Talking about how their arms were shaking and giving detailed accounts about the type and the sizes of the fish .

Once again "Lady Luck" prevailed with the boys not being able to land a bigger fish then mom
