North Point 7/6
Another beautiful day on the lake, and the fish were cooperating...sort of. For whatever reason we had hits but couldn`t get them to stick, it was just one of those days. We had a 6 O`clock start and it was a day that there was a good early morning bite for those that went out from 4:30-5:00.
We ended up coming back from a whopping 2/8 finishing right at .500 going 7/14 boating 6 Kings, two of which needed another year or so to grow, and a Laker. We were just happy to get anything to stay on and find it`s way to the cooler
.
Once again there was a strong current and the dipseys on both sides tangled themselves together on turns , first on the port and then the starboard side. Having two dipseys, both with dodger and flies tangle makes a lead core snafu seem miniscule
. The Northbound speed was 2.7-2.9, and Southerly was 2.0 on the GPS.
I started in 50` just North of the line and took it out to 70` and pointed it North. The best rod was the Silver Streak "Smurf" down 50` on a `rigger, bringing in 3 Kings and taking 5 hits. I wandered back and forth marking the most bait in the 70`s and fish in the 90`s. I took it out to 120` and boated the Laker on a 140`back # 3 Super Line dipsey with an chrome "0" dodger ahead of a white flie. This rig took a total of three hits and made up the only dipsey action. The copper took one hit with a Carlson white "Real image" spoon. The lead managed 2 fish with a Green Dolphin, and Stinger Kevorkian. These came as I brought the boat back into 40` on the troll back towards the harbor.
For the second time this year the young lady beat the men landing the 3 bigger Kings. But for her Uncle and Father, that was the last thing they had to worry about, it`s the family togetherness and memories that count
