--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday morning it started out decent we had 6 in the box by 8 AM

, that`s when the winds picked up out of the North and the bite came to an abrupt stop for us

, this is how it went.
I picked up 3,( we must have gone over a feeding school) 1/2 hour into the trip, all three rods were next to each other on the same side of the boat, the shallow dipsey, boom `rigger, and inside board. They hit at 60`, right on the line while we were heading East. We managed three more between 7 and 8 staying within a mile of the line between 70` and 110`. I had plenty of marks, but couldn`t get them to go. All the other boats I was in contact with were experiencing the same circumstances in their particular areas, so I stayed where we were. I did have one we were draggin` on a deep `rigger but he came off at the surface well away from the boat .
Saturday afternoon I set up just shy of where we had the early action in 50`, a few boats went deeper, as well as South. We had our first as we crossed the 60` mark and took a decent coho. As I was turning to head back shallower at 90`, we took another on the famed 40` dipsey, Chedder Flie "Blue Liz"

. It was the same as the morning, plenty of marks but few takers. At this time a few boats ventured out deeper, I took the shallower route and we found active fish in the 50` range. I hailed another Capt. and he came in a mile South of me with hungry fish as well. I pointed it South from the line and picked up a few more. Now it was getting crowded, so I headed back up along the same 50` depth and took two more going 7/12.
We had a 4 boat trip with dads and their kids who had a little contest going. We managed both trophies, largest fish caught by one of the kids

as well as smallest

. We also had the most fish with 7, that`ll tell you how the fishing was

.
On Sunday morning it was the same program all over again. I set up in 50` on the line and trolled down to a mile South between 50` and 100`. We managed a few fish, again plenty of marks all over the screen, but little action. I took it out to 140` and noticed a 5* temp break 25` down in 135`. I really love my "Depth Raider" I came back around and turned North towards the line when we took a laker on a board with a "00" Mystery dodger and 1/2 cut white fly. Then a coho came in from 118` down on a `rigger, hitting a magnum "Smurf" spoon. The 25` `rigger, despite the water being 53* took a few hits, along with 2 board bites, and a few shallow dipseys.
The lead with a Stinger Kevorkian, all colors out, had a nice steelie that gave us a pretty good aerial display, cart wheeled one too many times, and spit the hook. We ended up 7/11.
I changed baits so many times during these trips, my dash on the boat is still a mess

Covered with all the flies and spoons that gave it their best to entice a strike, with little cooperation from the fish.
Tons of bait and fish were all over the place, so perhaps the fish were doing fine with what forage was out there. The barometer bouncing all over the place didn`t help matters, and a friend told me the Sportsman's lunar calendar predicted poor fishing.
So I`ll blame it on the calendar

.
Lets hope it turns around soon
