Hard to believe it`s the first week of May as the jacket came off and a T-Shirt was all you needed out on the big pond yesterday
We left the dock around 6:30 and headed straight out to 110` and started trolling East. I was the only charter to go straight out, and I heard the fish were in as close as the 120`s on Wednesday afternoon. Well, being the migratory fish they are they found their way back out to the depths

, it took almost an hour before we found any action when we reached the upper 160`s.
It was spotty, the fish were in what seemed to be small schools, we would have 2 rods go in quick succession and then 5-10 minutes before the next hit. I was in no hurry, enjoying the beautiful day, so I never turned on any of my action.
It appeared the flies color was no major concern, it was the size, I started off with mostly "Peanut" flies (3/4 " long tied to the hook) and not one was hit, I switched them out to the longer "Slider" 1 1/2" long flies and they all took fish, blues, greens, purples ect.
I ran a 15 rod spread of 8 boards, 4 `riggers, 2 dipseys and a lead, they all worked. From the `riggers down 100` -140` we took a mixed bag of coho, kings and a laker. The larger "Summer" dodger / flie presentation was what I ran deep as well as spoons, both regular and magnums.
Again it really didn`t seem to matter what color flie you had out, you just had to find the pockets of fish.
My son picked out a Silver Streak "Hot Lobster" to put out on the full core of lead and it didn`t last 5 mins. before a coho nabbed it, it took 2 additional fish after that.
I stayed between 160` and 195` and 42* 29` and 42* 27` for the trip. We had one dry spell of 45 mins. that ended abruptly with 4 rods going off and 2 more soon after, filling all six tags on the boat. I ran fireline dipseys just out of sight, and the boards had the "00" orange dodger flie combos 25`-50` back with a 5/8 oz. weight.
I was happy to see that there was a lot of bait down 100` plus all over out there
This was a family`s birthday present to their 9 yr. old son, and it was a pleasure to have them out, even their 4 yr. old daughter was great
