Despite the lack of reports, for the most part the fishing has been very good out of Waukegan. The past couple of weeks the fish have been between 30`(as shallow as I fished) and 110`. With a mixed bag of coho, kings and steelies, there are quite a few 4 yr olds already being caught. I was out in 110` one day and had mostly steelies and coho, next day same spot all kings. Then the west/southwest winds blew cold water in and we were catching kings inside of 60` all day long. With the strong currents I ran mostly spoons, my best were the Moonshine "Agent Orange" magnum off a full core, and a Magnum Silver Streak blue dolphin also on the lead, and 35` down on the riggers. Many patterns produced but those were the most consistent for me.
As mentioned there are quite a few kings being caught right now, so don`t wait for the reports and then try to book your trip, it`ll be too late.
Here is a pic of what we found in the deeper water.
