After having to reschedule a few trips due to weather conditions, finally got out. I was to be one of 2 charters I know of fishing for Salmon on Wednesday, the rest were after perch. After the strong blow the few days prior it was a crap shoot on where to go. I headed North and setup in 25` just shy of the stacks. The water was pretty murky and there was quite a bit of bait, but no hooks above it. Riggers were down 12`-20` and the dipseys were on a #3 no ring, 25` and 30`, birds were out 2-4 passes with a 1/2oz. trailing ahead of various patterns. It wasn`t lock and load as the fish were still scattered, we only managed one double throughout the trip. We took 3 fish that were hooked in the back, apparently they were after the dodger. Ended up 2 shy of our 6 man limit with the best rods being a "Stanley Stinger" purple/blue maniack fly behind a small orange spin doctor on the 30` dipsey, and another one of his Blue/copper sliders with a pink head. Speed varied in every direction and there was a strong push to the North with the current. It was all coho and one King, he too hit on the blue/copper stanley flie.

There were a couple of "Camera shy" fish that hit after the pic.

For the afternoon, I heard of very good action on the South side towards Great Lakes, well it must have been short lived as I didn`t do too well picking up one here and there. There was a very distinct mud line just South of the base and the bait was very heavy once in it. We only managed a few fish so I headed back up towards the stacks. The current was still heading strong to the North as we were back up by Alcatraz pretty quickly. Once there the `riggers were going strong, I only ran a couple of spoons all day and had no action. The basic "00" orange ahead of the larger "Slider" type flies seemed to be the pattern, the green or blue liz worked best.
We ended up with our limit and a few for me to take home as well.

I noticed only a couple of fish had any bait in their stomachs after the morning trip, many more had full bellies in the afternoon. It seemed as though they were settling down again after the winds changed everything around. Hopefully it be back again this way come Saturday.
