I caught this small bass on Gaston yesterday, it obviously has something very wrong going on! I speculate that it was hooked before and that possibly the wound got infected and caused the extreme damage to the side of the mouth and face. Anybody else ever seen anything like this??

That as bad as I have ever seen and I have seen some good ones out of the James/Appomattox.
I think you are right, injury lead to infection. Injury probably came from one of those Bass Master hook sets that jerked it's lip off.

That's very unusual. I agree. Looks like an infected hook set...or maybe a crawfish got hold of him.
