Why do I seem to only catch white perch at night??
I pretty much fish the same lake when I go perch fishing. By day I'll get plenty of bluegills and yellow perch. Then by night the yellows and bluegills disappear and I'll start raking in whites (+eels and bullheads).
I primarily fish a large area of shallow water (1-3 feet depth). Do the whites hang out in deeper water during the day or are they just less active?

I know yellow perch are only daylight feeders. Gills, I think you can catch em in the right spots.

We catch white perch during the day here trolling white beetlespins tipped with a piece of shrimp. Fill a cooler in short order on many days. I don't know anyone who fishes at night round My neck of the woods. If Your not catching them during the day in the shallower water, then they may be deeper. Definitely worth a try. CF
