    Default Shenango Sun,Mon,Tues.

    Gary,
How'd you fair out. The fish on the board, are Sunday's catch. Did not take but the pic of dad on Mon, but kept 7, Tuesday, did the best, and caught a mixed bag, of large and small. Kept 17, smallest was 8". Wed. wind made it tough to cast, drift, and marked very few fish, caught 2 early, and left. Dad had about a 30" Northern Pike almost in on the 4# test, and snap...........gone! The board Sundays catch is on, is 12"x18" I'd like to catch a boat full of those. All real nice healthy fish. I think I picked the wrong week for vacation. All of next week looks great.

    Don,
I didn't do very well either. I ended up with 7. I got the problem with my 35hp figured out, though. Ended up putting a new seloniod on it yesterday. I am thinking about maybe trying it again Friday, but I'm not sure with this weather. Even though the fishing wasn't the greatest at least you got to spend some time with your dad and that's what's important.

Was up yesterday and fished for the crappies and gave the eyes a break. Caught 39 and brought home 16, none under 10 inches and 5 over 13. All came on a semi-troll pattern. I was drifting with 1/8-1/4 jig head and 2 or 3 inch curly tail in chartreuse depending upon the jig weight. What I did was just drop the jig over the side and let the wind carry me across the flats drifting. The wind was so strong at times that the gps said I was going 3 mph. Had all kind of trouble trying to keep the right depth 6-7 feet deep. Fish weren't relating to any wood just hanging a foot or so above the bottom. A couple of drifts I couldn't keep 2 poles in the water and other drifts you couldn't get a bite, especially close to shore. The fish were out in the middle of no where over clay bottom. Come up to a rock pile and the perch would drive you crazy nipping at the tails.

    Sparky,
Sounds like you have a pretty good system going there. I usually like to slow troll or drift myself, but I do it with a lighter jig 1/32oz. Maybe that's my problem. Next time out I'll give a little bigger jig a try.
