Thread: Shenango 5-9-09

Got up to Shenango for a couple hour this morning , we left because of that wind. ( WOW ) I left the big boat at home and just ran my 16ft bass boat , should had the big boy. We did pretty good on crappies alot of real nice keeper fish and also caught ( 4 ) 16-18" walleyes. All fish were caught jigging twist tails tight to the bottom , casting from about 16ft of water into about 5-6 ft. We left all the fish go neither my dad and I were too lazy to filet.

Got to try out my new Keystone Crappie Hat , it worked well. It must come already trained. :D

Very nice Crappie. I'm leaving in the morning to go up for a week, taking the camper. Hope to get a good bite. Very nice fish again.

I think you should have a great week . This week coming up is always one of the best for us. Last year had a few 100 crappie days on this week coming up. Goodluck and have fun !!!

Might see you up there. I'm on vacation this week and plan to fish Shenango a couple times if the weather permits.

Good job on the crappies and walleyes Xhogger. We are going to hit Shenango either Weds, Fri, or Sat for a run at both species. That water had to have gotten wild on Saturday the way it was blowing. I hope the front and big blow did not kill the action.

It was so rough that my boat was running thru waves instead of on top. Took alot of water in , next time the forecast is like that my 1850 Crestliner is coming out for the day and the bass boat stays home. Weather was great until about 12:30-1pm , then it looked like Erie out there. I hope to get up there Friday and work them over some more. Think Im heading to Presque Isle this weekend for some Smallie Action.

Friday is looking better than tomorrow on Shenango after last night's cold/frost and another chilly one tonight. Have to make the decision later this PM. If Friday's forecast holds, that looks like an optimal day. Some breeze is expected tomorrow PM again, but not as harsh as Saturday---for the moment.

The bass have turn on the last coule of days. The shallow flats has bass on them right now. They are a pain in the butt. Caught 4 largemouth and a smally today in a 40 yard stretch. 7 bass so far this week and I'm not even fishing for them.
