    Default New to Crappie Fishing

Hey there everyone, Just wanted to post on here and see how this works, maybe get some good advice from some good fishermen. I'm fairly new to Crappie fishing, I've only started regularly fishing for Crappie recently. After a stint in the US Air Force, I'm finally back home with the family, and they've gotten me into fishing for crappie. It all started about 2 years ago, when my wife and I were home on leave. We went out on the lake with my in-laws fishing two or three times, and each time we came home with at least 20 good sized fish. Ever since those trips, I've been hooked. Finally, we're back home for good, and I can actually go fishing regularly.

So far this season my father-in-law, brother-in-law, a family friend, and I have been out on 4 fishing outings, and only the latest bore a decent catch. The first 3 trips out, we couldn't get one in the boat if our lives depended on it, a couple bites per trip was all we had. Then finally, just this past Saturday we got into the crappie a little bit. We mostly went out to catch whatever would bite, due to our increased tension levels (mostly cause we figured the fish just didn't love us anymore), and we ended up pulling in over twenty fish, including about twenty crappie, a couple largemouth bass, and a bluegill. Unfortunately, I have no pictures. Hopefully we can keep the fish comin now, and we don't have to worry about anymore fruitless trips to the lake.

My family and I are from the Central PA area, just north of Harrisburg, and not far from State College. We frequent the lakes in our area almost every weekend. The lakes we're at the most include Little Buffalo, and Walker Lake. So if anyone is ever around one of those two, and see us (I'll post trip pics later) feel free to say hey. It'll be cool to meet people within the Crappie community, as I try to get better and more experienced at Crappie fishing.

    Thanks everyone!

P.S. The rest of this thread I think would be a great place for new crappie fishermen to post, and a good place to post any advice that you think a new crappie fisherman could use. Anything you think would help out a newbie on the lakes.

    Welcome from Indiana

Fish slow, than slower, than that is too fast for crappie

Dont spend more than 2-3 mintues in given spot as they tend
to be on the move, so you have to find them fast.

    PS
