You're killing me with all these pictures of your fine catches at Shenango. I'm thinking I gotta make a trip out there with the wife. I see Shenango is a Army Corps lake and they have camping there. We have the Golden Access Pass for there, and can camp at half price. I usually avoid the campgrounds during the summer vacation seasons, so when would be a good time for hitting Shenango after Labor Day, but before it gets too cold for the wife? Thanks!

Not sure when the campgrounds closes but mid to late september, the lake lice thin out and the fish relax a little bit. :D Some of the best fishing happens then. If the grounds are closed, there's still plenty of hotels less than 10 minutes from the ramp. Let me know when you're coming and i'll try to put you on some fish. Here's my buddy " Willie ". He seems to follow me from spot to spot. :D

And when i moved across the lake, he did too.

Hello Chaucy, Just checked the campground closes on Sept 20th. I like to use the Army Corps campgrounds because if you can get the right site, you can just pull your boat up on shore for overnite. Saves alot of work loading and unloading. I'll have to see if I could squeeze a trip in between Labor Day and the 22th, got a Navy reunion then. After that it's a family reunion in Georgia the first week in Oct, then a GA Slabfest Oct 10th.

Chauncy, your buddy "Willie" is looking for an easy handout as he sees you hauling in all those panfish. Ha ha. However, a whole crappie does not go down all that easy. Better keep the electric knife handy and offer Willie something he can swallow with ease. We are still eating lots of coconut crappie, corn flake crappie, and panko crappie down here. We'll be ready for fall when it gets here and will be watching for the start of the "spoon" bite.
