Default Need Some Prop Advice

I bought a Tracker Pro V-16 This year, it is an older model, but is in beautiful shape. I do not know much about prop, pitch and such, as I have only been boating for a couple of years. The prop I have is in good shape, but would like to have a spare. I was thinking since I like to carry a spare, I'd just buy a new prop and install, and use the one that is on the boat for a spare. What should I get? It is a 25 hp Johnson. I'd like it to plane out faster. A friend suggested a hydrofoil, so I picked up one today, but need help with prop selection. I know I'll get some good advice here. Any places that have a good selection, and are reasonable, would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks Don

Check in any of the Marine catalogs from BPS or cabelas. They have them there.

Hey Chaunc, Speaking about props, I've got a Piranha composite prop for a Honda 50, It's 10 3/8 x 13. I bought it for my previous boat as a back up and only had it on the motor once for testing. It has a hub with replacable blades, so you don't need to buy a prop if you hit something. The kit comes with 1 extra blade too. I was advertising it for $85 plus shipping, but if you are interested, I'll let you have it for $80 shipped to your door. Here'a link to their website. http://www.discountboatpropellers.com/

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but Shellback, you have a PM.

call any prop repair place give them the rpms your running with the prop you have now and they can tell you what pitch to bring you on plane faster . wont need the hydrofoil unless your motor is to small for the boat.

but you can buy props on ebay much cheaper than from a prop dealer once you find out the size you need and if the prop is cupped it helps.
