Smile Shenango

Anyone having luck lately in the heat? Does the action start back up in the fall?

Still catching lots of fish but the size has gone down the last month or so. We'll be back up this Sunday.

Same here Jim. I only fish it once a week but i can still catch 75 fish in a few hours. Most are only 9" but they are really fat. The black crappies are a lot heavier than the whites that are the same length. Get some nice fillets from those buggers. Gonna try to fish erie this weekend but if the waves are too bad, i'll be heading to shenango to do some slabbin.

I fished Shenango last week and didn't do too good. I was fishing the 10hp area and the area outside it. My kids were catching plenty of blugills but I just couldn't catch any crappie (I was using minnows). Any advice?

Default Turn around...

The west shoreline on the other side of the ski bouys has some downed trees there. Fish that area. Dont let the skiers scare you away. Those fish are use to all that wave action and they will still bite. I was there a while ago and the fish were hitting green twistertails on an unpainted 1/16oz head. Take plenty of jigs with you. You'll lose some. We all do. Also try a blue/white tube jig too. Get some crappie nibbles and you're set. Next month, i'll be pullin microspoons just outside the deeper branches. Good luck.

Get there early. If the weather is nice, those skiers will be out by 8:30. You should have 25 fish in the boat by then. Got any microspoons? Get some. PM me and i'll give you some colors to order for shenango.

Default keep it coming

If everyone can keep posting reports on Shenango that would be great! Planning on making a trip soon. Sounds like the fall is a good time.
