Default Piranah215 thermocline

Does anyone know if the 215 is capable of showing the thermocline in clear water? I read that if the gain/sensitivity is turned up enough a fish finder should show a layer of plankton that suspends at what ever that level is.
I haven't had by boat on a lake with clear enough water yet but the NY finger lakes with their zebra mussels are clear as tap water.
I've got the 215 and am looking to find some suspended lake trout!

Not sure about the pixel count on that unit but i could see it when i had my 240 eagle when i turned up the sensitivity to over 80. Looked like a solid line across the screen. No problem with my 320 and 480 eagles.

Thanks chaunc, I'll report back next week how the 215 worked. I suppose I should also mark fish above or below that same depth, otherwise I really don't need to know!
I read, find the thermocline depth and then find bottom at that same depth. Seems reasonable to me. The banks of these lakes are so steep, I'm going to try jigging the bottom above and below the thermo if I can determine where it is. Maybe a little trolling around as a last resort.
A cold clear water lake with no cottages - I think it'll be worth the trip with or without the catching part of the fishing!

Well I think it worked even though I came home without any fish. Not the Piranah’s fault. With the sensitivity turn up to 9 (out of 10) there was a distinct, thick line at 17 feet and I did keep marking fish at 15 feet in open deep water. Guess that was what I was hoping for. I set up a slip bobber and jig for 15 feet and let it float while I tried other things.
I set the background to inverse which it says makes small objects dark and large things light so the small are easier to see. Tall weeds did show up as dark lines so they seemed easier to see.
Now I’ve heard of a sunken object in Lamoka and someone pulling Crappie up off from it yesterday so I guess my next trip is already starting to take shape
