Just a few lines to report that the wind was howling down the river ! whitecaps, at least two foot waves , looked like the bay !
Pulled up to the ramp and in a macho voice reminded the wife that this was her idea !
Launched the boat , backed out with waves breaking on the transom (spraying me) and made a bee-line to the nearest creek..........
Hey not too bad out of the chop, a little wind but bearable.........
BAM hit a tree I guess , came to a sudden stop, no damage except to the nerves............. a side note we were WAY up the creek with no trolling motor(next year) .
Bein in a narrow creek the question always presents itself "can bears swim?" , the wife informed me NC Wildlife MAG said they can and do......
She didn`t hesitate to push us away from the bank when too close
Caught a few small gils ( our sizing system= bigger than a bean) these were half beaners , after making our way back out and to the river thought we would try another creek close by before calling it a day .
Caught a few small gils and two raccoon perch , released them all for another time ..........
Made a dash for the ramp and came on home , another great day to remember
Sure Sure Pat blame it on the wifebut it still beat Honey Do lists LOL

That was definitely better than a day at work! Yep, Bears can swim good. Seen one swim from Scuppernong river all the way to the Albemarle Sound bridge. He came ashore at the foot of the bridge and went on his way without missing a lick. What creeks Have You been fishing? heard Catherins and Bennets have been producing. CF

Bennets' always been my favorite. have caught a dozen different species there on the good days. some deep holes in some of those turns, hold fish bout all yr. but have also had good days in Catherins. used to camp just up the river from them, off Swains Mill Rd. but we slept in a pickup camper, not tents in bear country.
i am from colubia nc looki`n for local fishin clubs anybody know
TIGHT LINES BOYS! SIMPER FI
Don`t know of any local fishin clubs, maybe crappiefarmer does..............
Met an older fellow on the Chowan last yesr , belongs to a fly fishin group , they fish various rivers during the summer.
Maybe all of us who live south could get together this spring / summer for a "bream bash"?

There is a brim tournament held by a Ruratin or optamist club in Bertie county on the Roanoke river the first saturday in June every Year. I will try to find some info on it. It usually has big turn out and lots of prizes. Should generate a pretty good purse. I don't know of any clubs other than a Bass club in Edenton. The Guy who used to run Pembroke fishing center tried a brim club one time but he just did not have time to run two clubs so he stuck with the bass. Would be nice to have a group around though in our area. CF
